John Donald Turchan, 82, of Penn Township, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2021 at Forbes Regional Hospital, Monroeville. John graduated from Duquesne University in 1960, and went on to become a teacher in the Penn Trafford School District for 36 years. John was a devoted Catholic who spent time every day in prayer and dedicated his life to his church. His hobbies included reading, enjoying travel and leisure, TV shows, and spending time with his grandchildren. Later in life, he became an avid Pittsburgh Penguins fan, and enjoyed celebrating wins with a strawberry milkshake. John was preceded in death by his parents, John Turchan, and Barbara (Dvoravic) and Frank Ruby; his beloved wife of 49 years, Dorothy E. “Dottie” (Bane) Turchan; and a son John D. Turchan, Jr. He was blessed with two daughters, Michele A. Turchan-Gray (friend Charles Gibson III) of Harrison City and Cathy Corob (husband Philip) of Jeannette. He was the proud grandfather of three grandchildren, SPC. Nickolas J. Corob of Ft Riley, KS, Rebecca C. Gray of Harrison City, PA and Dylan S. Corob of Jeannette; and is also survived by a sister, Marion Lee (husband Henry) of Texarkana, TX. High Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 15 at St. Joseph the Protector Chapel, 928 St. Clair Way, Greensburg, PA 15601.
