John E. Owoc, II
Suddenly, on Thursday, October 14, 2021, of Level Green, formerly of Monroeville and Wilmerding. Son of the late Gladys A. (Prajsnar) Owoc and John E. (Ottlie) Owoc, Sr. Beloved husband of Karen M. (Wackowski) Owoc; Dedicated Father of Christopher J. (Abbey) Owoc and Dr. Kevin J. Owoc, DMD.; Loving Grandfather of Daniel C. Owoc and Nathan B. Owoc. John is also survived by many cherished cousins and friends. John graduated from Westinghouse High School in 1969. He was a lifetime member of Monroeville Volunteer Fire Company #6, member of the Monroeville-Pitcairn Sportsman’s Club, national convention coordinator for the GTOAA, and former member and past president of the Greater Pittsburgh GTO Club. John played the drums in local bands on the weekends for many years, in order to earn extra money for his family. Drums should never be silent, and luckily, this summer, John found the perfect man, Paul Martello of the Jaggerz, to pass on his original, vintage set of drums that his mother bought him, so that they could be enjoyed and played on stage, once again. After a successful career, John retired as a sales engineer from Sunnen Products, Inc. Most of all, John loved spending time with his family, especially his “2 favorite grandsons,” whom he loved so much. Family and friends will be received Sunday 2-6 PM at the LINDSAY-JOBE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 3343 Route 130, Harrison City (724-744-2721). Mass of Christian Burial Monday, 10:30 AM at St. Regis Catholic Church in Trafford, with interment to follow at Good Shepherd Cemetery, Monroeville. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in John’s memory to the Syria Shriner’s (1877 Shriners Way, Cheswick, PA 15024 www.syriashrineres.org. for whom he organized fundraiser car cruises, or the Children’s Hospital Free Care Fund (Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation, 4401 Penn Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15224 www.GiveToChildrens.org., an organization dearest to our family’s heart.
