Amelia (Gardner) Hughes, 88, of Jeannette, died on Friday, October 8, 2021.
She was born on April 28, 1933 in Swedesboro, NJ, to Alvin "Russell" and Ada (Kirby) Gardner. Amelia worked in the cafeteria of Kingsway Regional High School in New Jersey for 18 years, and was a caregiver for the elderly when she lived in North Carolina. She was a lifetime member of the Eastern Star of Swedesboro Chapter 115. She was a member of Hillside Park Baptist Church while living in NC.
Amelia is survived by her daughter, Leah "Bea" Dilks and her husband Sam, her son Aaron John Hughes, and her sister Deborah G. Morgan all residing in NC. Her grandchildren; Duane Foote and his wife Chrystal, Brandi Dilks Russo and her husband Richard, Dustin Dilks and his wife Teara, Devon Hughes and Faith Hughes. Her great grandchildren; Summer, Taylor, Reid, Trey Maddox, Braelen, Dawson, Emmlyn, Heaven and Maverick. Her great great granddaughter Riley. Her nephews Ken Morgan and Jay Morgan, her niece Sharon Morgan and their families. She was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Hughes, daughter Amelia "Tinker" Foote, granddaughter Dawn M. Foote, and brother-in-law James "Jim" Morgan. Her beloved dog Twerpie and several cats.
